Valentine's Day Ideas for Kids

With Valentine's Day coming up on Friday, if you have kids in elementary school, most likely you are being asked to bring in valentines for everyone in the class.  Sure you could buy those pre-printed ones, but there are so many great ideas that are inexpensive and easy enough to do with your children.

The two Valentines pictured here are from Spoonful.com, and my group of 20 au pairs from Cultural Care Au Pair came together yesterday to practice making them.  Each valentine took only minutes to come together, so it would be no problem whipping out a couple dozen.

Other sites that have great ideas are:

  • Ivillage.com - Ideas include a pop-up heart card and a great idea for yarn hearts made by twirling red and pink yard around wooden hearts.
  • Parents.com  - I'm a sucker for googly eyes and surprises, and the first card you'll see here has both!
  • EnchantedLearning.com has a ton of ideas on it's Valentine's Day page, including a cute Valentine that uses nothing but paper and a hole-puncher.
Please add any ideas of your own in the comments. Happy Crafting!
