Vehicle Veers 500 Feet Into Woods Off Route 44 In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A vehicle careened several hundred feet into a copse of trees on Route 44 in West Hartford Wednesday, police said.

At about 1 p.m., the West Hartford Police Department received multiple calls regarding a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the area of 2900 Albany Ave.

Officers located two vehicles and four people with injuries, according t0 a report.

All four patients were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a report.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but police suspect that one of the drivers may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, according tp0 a report.

One of the vehicles involved left the road and went down an embankment about 500 feet into the woods, according to a report.

Traffic was tied up on Albany Avenue between Mountain Road and the Avon line for utility repairs and for accident reconstruction purposes. The West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
