Webster Walk Elevator In West Hartford Closed For 6 Weeks
The Webster Walk elevator in Blue Back Square is closed for about six weeks as part of a modernization program.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The Webster Walk elevator in Blue Back Square is temporarily closed as West Hartford begins a roughly six-week modernization project.
Work began Thursday, Oct. 1, according to the town. The elevator connects the South Main Street level with the lower Blue Back Square and LaSalle Road area.
The project will modernize the elevator's major electrical and mechanical systems and include other improvements intended to increase its long-term reliability, safety, and accessibility.

The elevator will be unavailable to the public throughout construction.
The Webster Walk stairs will remain open between South Main Street and the lower Blue Back Square/LaSalle Road area.

The town said signs will be posted to notify visitors and help them navigate the area during the closure.
The work is part of West Hartford's broader elevator and escalator modernization program.
At Memorial Garage, a newly modernized escalator serving the lower level and first floor passed required inspections and returned to service Sept. 21.
The next phase at Memorial Garage will involve escalators serving the garage's upper levels and is scheduled to begin in mid-October, according to the town.
