WEST HARTFORD, CT — The town is celebrating Black History Month this week by urging participation in a special forum Thursday morning honoring Black municipal leaders in government.
The virtual panel discussion is Thursday, Feb. 8, at 11:30 a.m.

The program features leaders from Hartford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, East Hartford, and Hamden. It will be moderated by Adrienne Billings-Smith, West Hartford's equity coordinator.
"Join us for a virtual panel discussion as the Town of West Hartford celebrates Black History Month by honoring the contributions of black leaders in municipal government," reads an announcement.

Panelists are expected to share their journeys, triumphs, and challenges as they navigate their roles in municipal government.
The discussion will delve into how these leaders are working to create more inclusive and equitable spaces within the town, while also reflecting on the historical significance of Black History Month and its relevance to their work.
"Tune in to gain a deeper understanding of the rich contributions made by black leaders in shaping the town's governance, and to celebrate the ongoing progress and achievements in moving forward while reaching back to honor the legacies of the past," wrote the town.
