WEST HARTFORD, CT — One of the West Hartford Fire Department's top leaders has called it a career with the WHFD, officially retiring this week after 22 years in town.

WHFD Deputy Chief William H. Beebe has put away his fire helmet, with West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241 posting a special tribute to him Wednesday on his retirement.

"Thank you for all that you have done to strengthen our department. We wish you health and happiness in this next chapter," wrote the union.

Local 1241 then posted a video showing a certificate of thanks to Beebe, with audio of various fire department members wishing Beebe well as he signed off.

"Thank you all. It's been a pleasure. Be safe. And enjoy every minute of it. Beebe out," said Beebe after a parade of tributes and well wishes.
