WeHa: Food Bank 'Extremely Low' On Food
The West Hartford Food Bank is urgently seeking donations to help replenish its food stocks this month.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With the traditional holiday giving season long finished, the West Hartford Food Pantry says it needs urgent donations to maintain food stock for the needy.
Recently, town officials described the pantry as being "extremely low on essential food" and it is asking for the public's help to restock it.

"The Town of West Hartford appreciates the continued support from our community to stock the shelves of the Food Pantry so we can help our neighbors in need who are experiencing food insecurity," wrote the town.
Local officials are asking members of the public to consider picking up a few non-perishable items the next time they shop. Especially needed are:

- Cereal
- Rice, 1 Lb. bags
- Peanut Butter, 1 lb./16 oz. jars. Brown rice is welcome.
- Baked Beans, 1 lb./16 oz. cans. Vegetarian beans are welcome.
- Spaghetti
- Shelf Stable Milk, 1% or 2%, and Almond milk.
Regarding donations, the pantry asks those donating to make sure the expiration date is compatible with consumption, as the pantry doesn't take expired food.
Donations may be left on the carts in the West Hartford Town Hall lobby, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 50 S. Main St. For larger donations, the carts may be taken to a vehicle and then returned to the lobby. Those with any questions or needing help unloading a vehicle can call 860-561-7580.
