WATCH: West Hartford Police Dog Helps Nab Suspects Who Stole Car In Cheshire
The four juvenile suspects are accused of stealing a car in Cheshire and were taken into custody late Monday night.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Tuesday said license plate readers recently installed in town played a major role in officers nabbing four juvenile suspects accused of stealing a vehicle.
According to the West Hartford Police Department, at about 10:08 p.m. Monday night, a vehicle was stolen out of Cheshire and it was detected in West Hartford via special license plate-reading traffic cameras in town.
As a result, police were able to disable the car with a tire deflation device.

According to the WHPD, the vehicle was eventually abandoned in the area of Park Road and Fairlawn Street in town, with four suspects fleeing the stolen car.
Local police then conducted a search of the area utilizing the WHPD's police dog K-9 unit.

Four juvenile suspects were located and charged in connection with the incident, police said.
Because of their juvenile status, police did not identify the suspects, but they have been released to appear in juvenile court.
Police also released a video of the incident showing how WHPD officer Tim Camerl and his police dog Onyx were able to track the suspects.
