WeHa PZC To Decide High-Tech Driving Range Plan
The West Hartford Plan & Zoning Commission Monday could decide a town application for a driving range overhaul at the town's golf course.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Plans to transform the driving range at the town's golf course into a high-tech practice facility have been delayed a bit, with officials expected to take up the matter Monday.
The applicant for the project is the Town of West Hartford and it calls for work at the existing driving range at the Rockledge Golf Course, which is located at 289 S. Main St., West Hartford.
Specifically, the project entails adding 20 covered driving stations, meaning golfers would be able to hit away even in the rain, in addition to digital analysis features in which swings could be analyzed.

The application was supposed to be decided by the West Hartford Plan & Zoning Commission on Feb. 5, but that meeting was canceled due to weather.
During the rescheduled Feb. 12 PZC meeting, the commission voted 4-0 to extend the application to the regular meeting on Monday, March 4, at 7:15 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.

That's when the zoning board could finally approve the project.
In addition, the project calls for a new snack bar and restroom facility should hunger and nature call while hitting the range.
West Hartford's Department of Leisure Services, according to a project narrative submitted to the PZC, said the driving range is "underutilized" at Rockledge.
According to the leisure services department, the new driving range would be a place to improve and have your swing analyzed via technology.
According to the department, the new range of features would be "equipped with digital technology that will enhance a golfer’s preparation, training, and performance analysis."
"The new driving range would support advanced sensors and software, which analyze ball flight and provide data on various aspects of a player’s swing," wrote the town.
