West Hartford Democrats Endorse Longtime Resident For 20th Seat
She was endorsed at a virtual Democratic caucus Tuesday night.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A lifelong West Hartford resident has been strongly endorsed by the Democratic Town Committee as its candidate for the 20th District seat in the Connecticut General Assembly.
Sherry Haller, executive director of the West Hartford-based Justice Education Center for more than 40 years and president of the Buena Vista Property Owners Association for a decade, was tapped to run for the seat currently held by Rep. Joe Verrengia. After serving since 2011, Verrengia announced in January he would retire following this term.
Haller was selected Tuesday during a virtually-held Democratic caucus. She was nominated by Democratic Town Committee member and State Central Committee member Barbara Gordon.

"Sherry has spent a lifetime committed to improving the lives of others, and should we be fortunate to have her serve as our 20th District representative, she will bring that same dedication and energy to her working representing us at the General Assembly," Gordon said.
District Chair Rosemarie Tate and District Vice Chair Maureen Magnan seconded Haller’s nomination, noting her dedication to West Hartford and her longstanding work on behalf of families and youth.

Haller announced her candidacy for the General Assembly District in March, and quickly gathered the necessary support for voter signatures and qualifying Citizens’ Election Program contributions.
"I am honored and humbled by the support I have received from our delegates," Haller said. "Throughout my campaign I have been committed to speaking with as many residents as possible. While many of those conversations have had to take place ‘virtually,’ I look forward to many more in-person conversations with those whom I hope to serve when it is safe to do so."
