West Hartford FD's First Summer Camp A Big Success
The inaugural program for youths aged 12-16 introduced them to potential firefighting careers.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — School started last week, but the West Hartford Fire Department is still reflecting on a successful completion of its first-ever summer camp for budding firefighters.
Recently, West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241, which represents WHFD members, released a video summarizing the inaugural Summer Youth Fire Academy.
Participants were aged 12-16 and they learned about "the fire service and experienced what it's like to be a firefighter," according to the union.

"This unique experience was an opportunity to have fun and give kids a look at another career path for their future," wrote Local 1241.
The department thanked the Town of West Hartford's Leisure Services Department, which helped organize the camp.

"Our Local 1241 members were proud to sponsor the event and assist throughout the camp," wrote the union.
