West Hartford Honored For How It Displays Budgets

The Government Finance Officers Association this month feted West Hartford for the way it presents how tax dollars are spent.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — While not the most exciting honor in the eyes of the typical resident, the Town of West Hartford's recent award for how it presents budgets is an important one nonetheless.

Earlier this month, the Government Finance Officers Association announced that the Town of West Hartford earned the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

What it means is that the town was honored for how it presented the way town tax dollars are spent, doing so in a manner easily understood and transparent.

"The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the Town’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting," wrote the town in an announcement.

" To receive the budget award, the Town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

Local officials specifically, honored Lisa Newton, Pattie Lewis, Angela Iudiciani, Karie Hupfer, Erica Sledge, Jackie McLaughlin, and the financial services staff.
