West Hartford Launches Social Group To Help Seniors Build Friendships
West Hartford Social Services is offering a group for residents 60 and older focused on friendships, connection, and emotional well-being.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford Social Services is launching a social group for older residents looking to meet new people, build friendships, and reduce loneliness.
Circle of Friends, a social group for West Hartford residents ages 60 and older, will meet Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St. Meetings are scheduled from Oct. 5 through Nov. 23.
The program is intended for seniors who may live alone, be new to West Hartford, or simply want more opportunities to connect with others, according to the town.

Participants will discuss practical ways to improve social connections and emotional well-being.
Meetings will feature different themes along with activities that can include gentle walks, creative projects, mindfulness exercises, games, and conversation.

The town is also asking prospective participants to let Social Services know if transportation is an issue. Anyone who needs an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to participate can contact West Hartford ADA Coordinator Suzanne Oslander at 860-561-7580 or SuzanneO@westhartfordct.gov, preferably at least seven days in advance.
