West Hartford Man, 72, Rescued On Mountain Trail In New Hampshire
New Hampshire authorities said he fell and was 'unable to walk.'
JAFFREY, N.H./WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man is recovering after he was rescued on a mountain in New Hampshire late last week.
According to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Monday morning, West Hartford resident Thomas Burns, 72, was injured after a fall on the mountain Friday afternoon.
According to New Hampshire authorities, Burns fell on the Marlboro Trail on Mount Monadnock at about 3:10 p.m. and was unable to walk, prompting him to call 911.

As a result, firefighters from Jaffrey, N.H., Dublin, N.H., Marlborough, N.H., Troy, N.H., Keene, N.H., Monadnock Park Rangers, and conservation officers from New Hampshire Fish and Game responded and were able to carry Burns to safety.
"Burns was carried to the trailhead, arriving at approximately 4:30 p.m., where the Jaffrey/Rindge Ambulance was waiting to transport him to Monadnock Community Hospital," wrote New Hampshire Fish and Game in a statement Monday morning.

New Hampshire authorities said Burns and his hiking partner were well prepared to hike that area, indicating they have a map of the trail network, water, food, microspikes, and "all necessary gear for a hike at this time of year."
