West Hartford May Become the New Home to Hartford's Montessori School

The Hartford Board of Education recently voted to begin the process of acquiring a building in West Hartford to house the school.

West Hartford may become the new home of Hartford’s Moylan Montessori Magnet School by the fall of 2016, according to the Hartford Courant.

The Courant reports that the Hartford Board of Education is eyeing the 51,255-square-foot Cogswell building on the American School for the Deaf campus as the permanent site to house the 212-student elementary school that is currently located in a cramped, temporary space at Moylan and McDonough schools in Hartford’s South End.

The Hartford Board of Education voted 4-2 last week to allow Superintendent of Schools Beth Schiavino-Narvaez to negotiate a nonbinding letter of intent to acquire the building for up to $2.6 million in state money, according to the Courant.
