West Hartford to Pay More than $67,000 in Civil Rights Lawsuit
The suspect said she became the target for retaliation due to her student advocacy efforts.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - The town has agreed to pay more than $67,000 to settle a federal civil rights lawsuit, the Hartford Courant reported.
The town will pay $67,500 to a former interim special education teacher to settle a 2015 federal civil rights lawsuit, according to the Hartford Courant. The lawsuit alleged that school district administrators did not extend her contract due to her advocating for the rights of some students.
Andrea DeFusco had expressed concerns to school officials that her students were not being treated properly, according to the Hartford Courant. She said she became the target for retaliation due to these efforts.
