West Hartford PD's Cold 'Penguin Plunge' To Happen This Weekend
Originally slated for January, bad winter weather forced the fundraiser for CT Special Olympics to be postponed.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Police Department's first annual 'Penguin Plunge' was originally slated for the cold of January.
But nasty winter weather forced the postponement of the event to this weekend , and while the calendar now says "spring," it will still be pretty darn cold nonetheless.
The WHPD will host its first Penguin Plunge fundraiser on Sunday, March 29, to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the West Hartford Town Hall parking lot at 50 S. Main St., where participating officers will enter a mobile plunge pool filled with frigid water to raise money for the organization.
Police officials are inviting residents to attend and support the participants.

Donations can be made through the event’s online fundraising page, either toward the overall campaign or in support of individual officers who have registered.
The fundraiser marks the department’s inaugural plunge event, with proceeds supporting programs and services for athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.
