WHPD Chases Stolen Vehicle Into Hartford

The vehicle was likely involved in an incident at UConn Thursday night, according to authorities.

WEST HARTFORD/HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Police Department announced Friday morning one of its officers was involved in the pursuit of a vehicle that ended up in Hartford.

According to media reports, authorities now believe it was the same vehicle involved in a robbery on the University of Connecticut campus Thursday night.

According to the WHPD's 9:32 a.m. Twitter feed, a West Hartford officer noticed a vehicle in town that had "been previously stolen at gunpoint from another town."

The driver of the vehicle, according to the WHPD, engaged officers in pursuit, a chase that, eventually, ended in nearby Hartford.

No further information was available and the West Hartford Police Department deferred further comment late Friday morning to the Hartford Police Department.

WTNH Channel 8, citing UConn police officials, said authorities believe the vehicle in question, a BMW, was involved in an armed robbery at UConn Thursday night, ended up in West Hartford and was seized by police in Hartford.

WTNH also reports that one suspect is in police custody — identified as Jadin Roberts — in connection with the incidents.

CT Insider Friday, citing Hartford Police Department officials, said the BMW was involved in Hartford carjacking Thursday and, later, the incident at UConn.
