West Hartford Police Welcome New Officers
The West Hartford Police Department's newest recruits were sworn in during a recent ceremony.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Police Department recently welcomed two new recruits to the force. Andrew Freitas and Kristina Miner were both sworn in during a ceremony at Town Hall on March 14. Read more from the West Hartford Police Department below:
Andrew Freitas Badge #422
Andrew grew up on Martha’s Vineyard where he attended Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Throughout his time in high school, Andrew was an all-around athlete playing football, track and field and basketball. After graduating high school, Andrew attended Bridgewater State University where he is currently on the Dean’s list and in the process of obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. While studying at Bridgewater State University, Andrew worked as a Special Police Officer for the Oak Bluffs Police Department in Martha’s Vineyard. Andrew most recently worked as a Dispatcher for the Raynham Police Department in Raynham, Massachusetts.

Kristina Miner Badge #423
Kristina spent 8 years studying Public Policy & Law at Trinity College in Hartford, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree focused on Human Rights / International Law, followed by her Master of Arts degree focused on Economics / Policy Analysis. Throughout her time in college she competed as a collegiate athlete in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field in the middle- and long-distance running events. She also continues to pursue running having completed approximately 10 marathons since 2015, including being a top 10 female finisher in Montreal International Marathon (2018) and female winner of Two Rivers Marathon (2018) in Pennsylvania. Her brother is a police officer in Suffield, CT and her father has long served as a Suffield firefighter. Kristina most recently worked in the insurance industry for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company.
