West Hartford resident and Hartford Business Journal editor, Greg Bordonaro, recognized with Editorial Excellence Award

The Hartford Business Journal, the only audited weekly, subscription-based business publication in Connecticut, is proud to announce that it was recently honored with two national journalism awards for its reporting on breaking news by the Alliance of Area Business Publications at its annual Summer Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

“This is a national recognition and the competition included strong publications such as the Los Angeles Business Journal and Crain’s New York ,” said Gail Lebert, publisher, Hartford Business Journal.

Greg Bordonaro, editor Hartford Business Journal, was recognized with a silver award for his Back9 Deal report in the “best print scoop category.” The Hartford Business Journal was the first to report that the fledgling Back9 golf network would be opening a $7 million studio in downtown Hartford.

In addition, Brad Kane, managing editor, Hartford Business Journal and Bordonaro won a silver award in the “best online scoop category” for their story on Farmington law firm Levy & Droney PC dissolving and its top lawyers moving to Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in Hartford.

“We are extremely proud of Greg and Brad,” said Joe Zwiebel, HBJ’s Founding Publisher said. “These awards indicate their passion to provide important and hard to find business news to our readers. “

The annual Editorial Excellence Awards competition recognizes excellence in journalism, photography and design achieved by regional business publications. Judges are comprised of faculty members from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, with qualifications in respective areas.

“The purpose of the Alliance competition is to encourage a high level of journalistic performance and service to communities by recognizing editorial excellence and outstanding visual presentation in regional business publications,” said Alliance Executive Director C. James Dowden.
