West Hartford Resident To Participate In Nursing Program
The Quinnipiac University nursing professor has been selected to participate in the 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — (From Quinnipiac University): Karen Myrick of West Hartford, associate professor of nursing at Quinnipiac University, is one of 49 nursing faculty members from across the country selected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to participate in the 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program July 29-Aug. 2 in Chaska, Minnesota.
LANP is designed for people who have experience in academic administration and aspire to more senior administrative or executive positions within the nursing academic unit. The yearlong fellowship provides participants with a focused assessment experience, a range of content and exercises related to successful executive leadership, and the opportunity to establish a peer network that fosters long-term partnerships and collegial support.
“Being selected for this program is an honor and presents a significant opportunity to advance my career,” Myrick said.

Program participants come from 25 states and represent an array of institution types, including small liberal arts programs, public and private schools and large academic health centers. They were selected following a competitive review process.
Myrick earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctor of nursing practice degrees from the University of Connecticut and received a post-master’s certificate in nursing from George Washington University in 2002. She is certified as both a family and adult nurse practitioner and has a strong background in orthopedics, sports medicine and emergency/urgent care.
