Suicidal Person Helped In West Hartford Incident Friday: WHPD: UPDATE
The West Hartford Police Department Friday afternoon had to close a local roadway to help a male person threatening to harm himself.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Friday successfully assisted a suicidal person on a West Hartford roadway, a situation that required the road's closure for a bit of time.
The West Hartford Police Department said, at about 11:20 a.m., officers were notified by West Hartford Police Dispatch that they were attempting to locate a suicidal adult male.
Police said officers located the male driving a vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Westphal Street in West Hartford.

After more than a one-hour standoff, the male exited the vehicle and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, the WHPD said.
There was no threat to the public and no injuries were sustained by anyone involved, police said, adding this continues to be an active investigation.
