West Hartford’s O’Connor Captures Runner Of The Year Again

The West Hartford resident has been named the Liberty League's Runner of the Year for the second straight year.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford’s Grant O'Connor, a senior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), has been recognized once again by the Liberty League as the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year.

This is the second straight year O'Connor, a Hall High graduate, has been honored. O’Connor, a captain, earned the recognition after he:

Finished 5th overall and 2nd on team at Purple Valley Classic with time of 25:58.4 (209 competitors); Team was 1st of 16 schools

Finished 2nd overall and 2nd on team at Saratoga Invitational with time of 25:12.6 (240 competitors); Team was 1st of 14 schools

Finished 8th overall and 2nd on team at Rowan Interregional with time of 25:14.7 (399 competitors); Team was 3rd of 42 schools

Finished 2nd overall and 2nd on team at Liberty League Championship Meet with time of 25:14.7 (117 competitors); Team was 1st of 9 schools

Finished 1st overall at NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship Meet with time of 26:00.8 (307 competitors); Team was 1st of 45 schools

Finished 23rd overall and 1st on team and 1st among Liberty League runners at NCAA Championship Meet (280 competitors); Team was 13th of 32 schools

And earned:

Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year

All-Atlantic Region

All-Liberty League First Team

Liberty League Performer of the Week 1x

Liberty League All-Academic
