The town has set up an online portal where folks can electronically sign a pledge to, simply, be safer on the roads.

"We want you to be part of the solution by committing to the Vision Zero Safe Roads for All pledge and practicing five safe driving habits," wrote the town.

"By changing our driving behaviors together, one road user at a time, we can make our roads safer for everyone."

Those safe driving habits are:

• State focused and avoid distracted driving.

• Drive the speed limit.

• Yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.

• Stop at stop signs and red lights.

• Maintain a safe distance between your car and the car in front of you.

As a thank-you, participants can stop by by Room 312 of West Hartford Town Hall (50 S. Main St.) to pick up a reflective band "so you can be a good role model for pedestrian and bicyclist safety by being seen," wrote the town.
