West Hartford Student Competes in National Spelling Bee Contest

A student from Sedgwick Middle School will represent the state at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

West Hartford has a representative at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Arjun Jagjivan, an eighth-grade student from Sedgwick Middle School, is one of three competitors from Connecticut who have qualified for the nationwide contest.

According to Scripps, a total of 285 spellers will compete for the 2015 title.

Along with his teammates, Jagjivan beat out 52 other teams to claim the title of 2015 USA Kids’ Lit Quiz champion and is moving on to the international competition this July.

Jagjivan, 13, is actively engaged in community service with his Boy Scout troop and loves to read and watch movies in his down time.
