"Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States, but the good news is that many risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor diet, and lack of physical activity, are preventable or manageable," wrote the health department, which is based in Bloomfield, but serves West Hartford and Bloomfield.
"Taking care of your heart doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple steps like staying active, choosing heart-healthy foods, managing stress, and scheduling regular checkups can significantly improve your cardiovascular health. Knowing the warning signs of heart attack and stroke is also critical, as early action can save lives."
