West Hartford Urges Residents To Clear Hydrants (And Possibly Win A Prize)
Town officials are asking residents, including children, to clear hydrants and possibly win a prize for doing so.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Residents in West Hartford are being asked to help keep fire hydrants clear after the snowstorm as part of a community safety initiative announced by the town.
Officials said the town has approximately 1,300 hydrants and emphasized that “in an emergency, seconds count.”
They are urging residents to clear a 3-foot area around any hydrant near their property, along with a clear path leading to it, to ensure firefighters can access water quickly when responding to emergencies.
