Blue Black Dental pitchers Matthew Lazer, Michael Costello and Joshua Castro pitched two (2) each and led BBD to a 9-2 win over Hall's Market. For Hall's, Matthew DeLutrie pitched two innings and Mack Phillips had two hits for the Hall's Meat Maulers. For Blue Back Dental, timely hits contributed by Matt Lazer, Michael Costello and Jay Falvey and great bunting by Josh Costello generated all of the runs for BBD. The Blue Back Dental bombers are now 3-0 for the 2014 season!

Mr. Trophy 12 Cornelius 11
Mr. Trophy defeated Cornelius 12-11 in an exciting walk off win on Saturday morning. Mr. Trophy scored 3 in the first and built an 11-2 lead after 4 innings, but Cornelius stormed back in the fifth when they scored 6 and got big hits from Noah Pryzbek and Devin Mahoney. In the bottom of the 5th, Cornelius came up with 3 fine defensive plays to put Trophy down in order and then tied the game with 3 runs in the top of the 6th. Trophy then staged a 2 out rally in the home half. Gage Doorman and Jack McGovern walked and Doorman scored the winning run on base hit by Mateo Maturana.
Mr. Trophy was led on offense by Gage Doorman (2 for 2, 2 BB, HR, 3 runs), Jack McGovern (1 for 2, 2 BB, 3 runs) and Xavier Amarat (2 for 2, BB, 3 runs). Jack McGovern pitched 3 strong innings and struck out 6.
Cornelius was led by Noah Pryzbeck (2 for 3, BB, runs), Devin Mahoney (2 for 3, BB, 2 runs) and Leo Mulready (2 BB, 2 runs).

In this battle of undefeated teams, Venora Electric rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 6th for a dramatic walk-off win. This one was dominated by pitching early as Chase Rancourt (5 K's, 1 H) for Venora and Griffin Van Rye (4 K's, 0 H) for Berry both pitched two scoreless innings. Each were aided by great defense. In the top of the 1st, Noah Matalon ripped a ball to the wall to leadoff the game for Berry, but Charlie Kristofak threw him out on a perfect throw to 2B. In the bottom of the 1st, Karstian Lang drew a leadoff walk but was quickly erased by Andrew Wendorff who threw a perfect strike to 2B to catch Lang stealing. Berry broke open a scoreless game in the 4th with four runs on four straight hits from Matalon, Christian Pedro, Van Rye, and Wendorff and the help of a throwing error. Venora quickly rallied back for two runs in the bottom of the 4th when Rancourt and Liam Langan scored on a walk and a couple errors. Cohl D'Addabbo doubled in the inning but was left stranded by Berry hurler Trevor Dease. Brandon Wolmer (5 K's, 1 BB) then pitched two scoreless innings to hold the score at 4-2. In the bottom of the 6th, Gabe Salomons led off with a hot shot to 2B to reach base, followed by a walk to Rancourt. Zander Boehm then hit a hard ground ball to 2B that scored both runners to tie the game and advanced to 2B on an error. Wolmer then smacked a single to left field to score Boehm for the game winning RBI.
Venora's offense was led by Gabe Salomons (1 for 3, run), Rancourt (0 for 1, 2 walks, 2 runs), Boehm (1 for 3, run, RBI), Wolmer (1 for 3, RBI), D'Addabbo (1 for 1, double), and Eli Salomons (1 for 2). Berry's offense was led by Matalon (2 for 2, run), Pedro (1 for 3, run), Van Rye (1 for 2, run), and Wendorff (1 for 3, run). Venora's defense was led by Kristofak and Boehm at 3B. Rancourt, Gabe Salomons, and Wolmer split the pitching duties for Venora. Van Rye, Dease, and Wendorff split the pitching for Berry.

Knights of Columbus 11 Exchange Club 5
Dan Hussey both hit and pitched well for Exchange Club, but it wasn't enough as Exchange Club fell to Knights of Columbus 11-5 at Wolcott Park on Saturday, May 3.
Dan Hussey went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Exchange Club. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the sixth inning. On the mound, Hussey allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.
Down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd, K of C scored five runs on an RBI single by Will fox, a two-run double by Joe Morganthaler, an RBI double by Griffin Macaray and sacrifice bunt by Ixael Albino
Will Layden recorded the win for K of C. He allowed just three unearned runs over three innings. Layden was also 2 for 2 at the plate.
Ray Tirado had a solid day at the plate for Exchange, going 3 for 3.

Johnny "Cash" Cashman, Matthew Lazer and Jay Falvey combined pitching led Blue Black Dental with a hard earned win over a scrappy Cornelius team by a score of 12-2 at Wolcott Stadium today. Cashman and Lazer each pitched two (2) innings and Jay Falvey pitching one (1) inning. Key hits for BBD were contributed by Castro, Lazer, Falvey and Mike Costello. Excellent defense gems turned by Costello, Falvey, Cashman and Texas Joe also contributed to the BBD win.
Hall’s Market 11 Connors Insurance 9
Mack Phillips led the Hall's Market offensive attack as Hall's picked up their first win of the season. Connors Ins. jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Hall's cut their lead in half (6-3) with a 3 run HR by Phillips (2 hits). Connors quickly increased their lead to 8-3 heading into the bottom of the 4th inning. Hall's scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 9-8 lead. Connors tied it in the 5th and Hall's scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to go ahead 11-9.
Hall's offensive stars of the game were Phillips, Devan Barnum (2 hits), Ferguson (2runs) and Michael Barnett (2runs). Matthew DeLutrie (2 K's) and Ferguson each pitched 2 inning and did not give up any runs.
Connors was led by Jonathan Morrey (HR), Patrick McGann, Andrew Gingold (2 hits), Michael Bevilaqua (2 hits) and Sam Borg (2 IP, 4 K's).

Venora Electric 7 Knights of Columbus 5
In this well-played game, Venora Electric survived a late rally to outlast KofC 7-5 at Beachland Park. Venora Electric jumped out to an early lead with 1 run in the 1st on a walk and good base running from Gabe Salomons. Venora padded it's lead in the 2nd with a two out three run home run from Salomons for a 4-0 lead. Meanwhile, Chase Rancourt and Salomons pitched in and out of trouble over the first four innings allowing no runs while stranding 8 base runners including back-to-back strikeouts by Salomons in the bottom of the 4th with the bases loaded. Venora then added three more in the top of the 5th with another two out rally when Liam Langan reached on an error, stole 2B, and scored on a Zander Boehm bloop single. Brandon Wolmer then hit a home run to left field to make it 7-0. The KofC bats came to life with 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th with a hard ground ball from Will Layden, followed by back-to-back doubles from Will Fox and Liam Stone, another hard ground ball from Joe Morganthaler, and a walk by Ixael Albino. Will Fox was lights out for KofC in the top of the 6th pitching a perfect frame with 2 K's. Brandon Wolmer then closed out the game for Venora with a 1-2-3 inning of his own aided by nice plays in the field from Salomons at SS and Charlie Kristofak in CF.
The KofC pitchers and defense limited Venora to just three hits (Salomons, Boehm, and Wolmer) and four walks. Fox at SS, Avery Theriault at 3B, and Liam Stone at 3B and catcher were defensive standouts along with Griffin Macary who caught a screaming line drive in the 3rd. Ixael Albino pitched three strong innings in his pitching debut. Venora's outfielders Kristofak and Cohl D'Addabbo robbed KofC of several sure hits and Wolmer continued his steady play at catcher. Rancourt and Salomons continued their strong pitching for the season.

Rizzuto’s 6 Joey’s Pizza Pie 5
Rizzuto's and Joey's Pizza Pie passed the lead back and forth five times on Friday at Fern Park, but in the end Rizzuto's pulled out a 6-5 win in six innings over Joey's Pizza Pie.
Rizzuto's pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. An error scored Troy Griffith and gave Rizzuto's the lead for good.
Camden Rancourt racked up three RBIs on three hits for Rizzuto's. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.
Landon Traverse brought the heat against Joey's Pizza Pie during his outing. Joey's Pizza Pie managed just one hit off of Traverse, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his two innings of work.
A bright spot for Joey's Pizza Pie in the defeat was Cooper Silver, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.
The bottom of the first saw Rizzuto's take an early lead, 2-0. The Rizzuto's attack began with a double from Logan Murphy. Camden singled, scoring Troy and Logan.

Tavern shuts down the Pizza Parlor
Beachland Tavern shut the oven door early on Pepe's Pizza, capturing a 13-0 victory on Saturday at Eisenhower Park.
The game was decided quickly as Beachland Tavern exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings.
Bandit mashers Chuck Blanchard (1 for 1, 2R, RBI), Shane Bradley (2 for 2, 2R, RBI) and speedster Tommy Baldini (1 for 1, 2R, RBI) pushed runs onto the board quickly for Tavern.
Beachland was again led by both Bradley and Ryan Murphy's hot hitting. Shanemeister went 2-2, drove in one and scored two runs.
Mattie "Ice" Santoro again pitched lights out for Beachland Tavern. Ice held Pepe's hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five and Murphy and Blanchard both minded the dish very well. Murphy bashed a laser multi-RBI two bagger and nabbed a runner on a nifty assist from shortstop Declan "DJ" McCann. DJ got his first bash of the young season at a big spot and netted two RBI. He also had a few slick plays in the field to hold the one hit shutout in tact for Ice and Blanchard.
Tavern matched its five-run third inning with five more in the fourth. In the third, the masked villains scored on a fielder's choice, plating Daniel Moleti (1 for 1, 2R). Moleti was hot at the plate whopping his first minor league hit and scoring twice. He did however express angst to the coaching staff about inflicting such pain on an Italian pizzeria.
Bandit anchor "Big MAn"Drew Reicher had a great at bat and drew a walk that keyed a huge inning and the Bandit win.
For Pepe's Drew Lewis gutted out tough at bat to ward off the no-hitter for his squad and Griffin Paulus was solid on the bump.

Harry’s Pizza 15 Joey’s Pizza Pie 1
Harry's Pizza broke out the bats in this one to break a two game slump and beat rival pizza sponsor Joey's Pizza. Joey's mounted a 1st inning rally behind hits from Tomas Martin, Kyle Barnum, and Jack Lubin and a Cooper Silver walk to take an early 1-0 lead, but Jack Redmond stranded the bases loaded with a key strikeout to limit the damage. Harry's bats then took over as they scored 5 in the 1st behind singles from Jack Gustafson, Nathan Gallo, and Anthony Mangini, and doubles from Jack Redmond and Evan Ittleson. Redmond retired Joey's in order in the second and Harry's put the game out of reach with 5 more runs in the 2nd behind walks and an RBI single from Dylan Albanese. Anthony Mangini (1 K), Trevor Tanis (1 K), and Connor Mangini (2 K's) each pitched scoreless innings in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th to close out the game.

Jamie Kennedy, Jack Archambeault, and Will Tonkinson all walked and scored. Joey's Pizza was led by Martin (1 for 3, run), Barnum (2 for 2, 2 singles), Lubin (single), and Chase Rovero (single, walk). In the field, Harry's was led by its catchers Tanis, Anthony Mangini, and Peter Langevin. Gustafson (2B) and Gallo (1B) also played well. Joey's was led by Martin at 2B and Silver at SS and C.

Landon Traverse powered Rizzuto's at the plate and on the mound Saturday, willing Rizzuto's to a 22-7 victory over Effie's Place.
Landon racked up eight RBIs on five hits for Rizzuto's. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the first, second, third, and fifth innings.
Landon pitched lights out for Rizzuto's. Landon held Effie's Place hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Effie's Place scored five runs of its own in the first. Effie's Place scored on an RBI single by Emmanuelle Sanchez, a walk by Eden Nenshati, a bases loaded walk, a groundout by Brody McCarthy, and a passed ball.
Rizzuto's never surrendered the lead after the second inning. The runs piled on thanks to two singles.
Rizzuto's matched its five-run third inning with five more in the fourth.

It was a fine, clear day for baseball on Sunday as Rizzuto's hosted Pepe's Pizza at Eisenhower Park. In one of the better played games so far this season, Pepe's edged Rizzuto's for a 6-3 win.
Tied 3-3 heading into the top of the sixth inning, Clay Kanaga drew a one-out walk, stole second, third and home to give Pepe's a 4-3 lead. Nick Peterson and Theo Allen each followed with a run to provide the final margin. Matt Gelinas pitched a scoreless sixth with one strikeout to close out the game.
Griffin Paulus threw two scoreless innings for Pepe's striking out five, walking none. Peterson threw two innings, giving up two runs while striking out five. Drew Lewis struck out one in his inning of work.
Peterson and Gelinas, who had a ringing double in the second inning and reached base in all three plate appearances, scored two runs apiece. Lewis drove in Gelinas after his double with a single and drove home four total in reaching base in all three of his plate appearances. Kanaga and Andrew Schwartz also reached base in their two plate appearances apiece.
For Rizzuto's, Finn McHugh pitched two strong innings, striking out four and only surrendering one run. McHugh also scored a run, scoring ahead of a hit by Landon Traverse, which also drove home Logan Murphy. McHugh, Traverse and Ethan Raisner struck out 13 Pepe's batters.
