What you should know about strokes

Free program at Duncaster May 3

Duncaster is hosting a program about strokes and the warning signs. The discussion will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 3 p.m. The discussion is a part of Duncaster’s monthly series, “The Art and Science of Graceful Aging.” This program will take place on Duncaster’s campus, located at 40 Loeffler Road. The event is open to the public, however pre-registration is required.

Every year, more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke. Statistics show that up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable. This discussion will help inform people the warning signs of strokes and how to prevent them.

The speaker is Mark Alberts, MD, a Physician in Chief at Hartford Health Care’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute. His academic accomplishments, publications, leadership and clinical contributions have earned him national and international recognition. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
