Winter Sports Practices Begin: A Look at West Hartford Scholastic Team Titles

WEST HARTFORD, CT — It may still be November, and football season is still going for those who made the state playoffs, but the winter sports campaign is officially upon us as practice begins Monday for wrestling and girls basketball.

Boys and girls indoor track, girls gymnastics, boys basketball, boys swimming and ice hockey all begin later this week.

With players taking the court and mat later this afternoon, dreams of a state championship berth in March are already formulating in the minds of athletes and coaches alike.

Here is the state championship history in winter sports for Northwest Catholic, Conard and Hall high schools (note: girls ice hockey is not an officially sanctioned CIAC tournament, therefore is not included):

NORTHWEST CATHOLIC

• boys basketball, 6 (2003-L, 2002-M, 2000-M, 1998-M, 1973-M, 1972-M)
• girls basketball, 3 (1999-M, 1996-S, 1988-M)
• boys indoor track, 2 (2012-S, 1981-S)

CONARD
