Winter Team State Championship History: West Hartford Schools

WEST HARTFORD, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the 29 CIAC winter team titles won by Northwest Catholic, Conard and Hall high schools in past years (* - indicates a co-op team). Note: the girls ice hockey tournament is not a sanctioned CIAC event, and is not included here.

Northwest Catholic

• boys indoor track (2) - Class S: 2012, 1981
• girls indoor track (1) - State Open: 1995

Conard

• wrestling (5) - Class LL: 1982, 1981; Class L: 1980, 1976; Class LL-L: 1975
• boys ice hockey (2) - Div. II: 1996, 1985
• girls gymnastics (2) - Class L: 1992; Class M: 1991
• girls basketball (1) - Class LL: 1979

Hall

• boys indoor track (3) - Class L: 2018, 2017, 1955
• wrestling (2) - Class L: 1987; Class LL: 1976
