West Haven Man Who Tried To Join & Fight For ISIS Sentenced To Prison: Feds (patch.com) — West Haven residents are learning that a 29-year-old man from their city has been sentenced in New Haven federal court to more than seven years in prison and lifetime supervision for attempting to support ISIS. Authorities detailed his efforts to travel abroad to fight, his online propaganda activity, and a later alleged plan for a jail uprising, emphasizing ongoing counterterrorism work to protect Connecticut communities.
2. West Haven divided over whether $1 million can still fund long-awaited library (nhregister.com) — West Haven officials are racing to decide whether $1 million in federal ARPA funds can still be used to build a long-promised Allingtown branch library, or must be shifted to paving projects. Library leaders and some city representatives argue the neighborhood desperately needs a permanent library, while the ARPA Committee and lawyers will hash out federal rules at an Oct. 6 City Council meeting.
3. Students and staff say the shift has broadened classroom perspectives and created new opportunities, especially for girls helping shape the school's evolving culture and activities.

Noisy car issue could land you a heavy fine in these US states as licence plate camera get upgraded (uniladtech.com) — West Haven is planning to install four shoreline noise-detection devices that could trigger written warnings and then escalating fines for excessively loud vehicles. The story explains how similar camera-and-microphone systems are being rolled out in cities around the country, raising questions about enforcement, privacy, and how much drivers might pay if their cars or trucks are too noisy.
5. Metro-North adds more trains from Connecticut for Yankees-Red Sox playoff series (nhregister.com) — Metro-North is adding special Yankee Clipper trains on the New Haven Line this week, with direct trips from New Haven that stop in West Haven on the way to Yankee Stadium. West Haven riders will have extra one-seat options to reach the Yankees–Red Sox playoff games, along with regular connections via Grand Central and Harlem-125th Street.
