Experience An Authentic Oktoberfest In Connecticut

On October 4, the Harugari German-American Club, 66 Highland Street in West Haven, will celebrate an afternoon of authentic German Gemütlichkeit at an Oktoberfest tradition that has been part of the state for nearly 80 years! The gate opens at noon and the festivities continue until 6 p.m., rain or shine under a large, covered pavilion and biergarten.

The menu features bratwurst, bauernwurst, pulled pork, Hummel hot dogs and Leberkäse—a traditional German specialty similar to a savory baked meat loaf— each offered individually or as platters served with German potato salad, sauerkraut and bread. Extra sides of potato salad and sauerkraut are also available.

Don’t miss the hot pretzels, home-baked desserts and the much-anticipated potato pancakes—a rare Oktoberfest treat that usually sells out!

Imported German Bier, domestic beer and wine, along with a variety of sodas, water and coffee, will be served throughout the afternoon.

Traditional German music by the Vagabonds will fill the pavilion from 1–5 p.m., with lively tunes that get guests up and dancing. Entertainment also includes bellringing songs and spirited Bavarian dancing.

Admission is $5 per person; free for veterans and military with ID. On-site parking is free.
