Driver Rams Police Vehicle In Attempt To Flee: West Haven PD
The driver's passenger was in possession of weapons, cash and cocaine, police said.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Two men face several charges after one rammed a police vehicle while the other was in possession of weapons, cash and cocaine, according to authorities.
Giovanni Cabasquini and Taylon Silva were arrested in connection with the crash in West Haven, police said Saturday evening.
The incident began when law enforcement saw a vehicle with a misused plate at a gas station on Elm Street and converged, at which point Silva, who was driving, tried to flee and intentionally hit an unmarked police vehicle before reversing into a dumpster, according to authorities.

Cabasquini, the passenger, had a 9mm Polymer80 ghost gun with a 30-round extended magazine, $2,750 in cash and 30 capsules of crack cocaine packaged for street sale, police said. Silva was on pretrial probation for a pending gun charge, according to police.
Cabasquini was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a pistol, altering the identifications of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession with intent to sell narcotics and possession of a controlled substance, police said. Silva was charged with interfering with an officer, first-degree reckless endangerment and numerous vehicle charges, according to police.
