Drowning Boy, 11, Rescued By West Haven Beach Lifeguards
The two lifeguards are being credited with saving the life of an 11-year-old boy who was drowning at a beach in West Haven on Wednesday.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Two West Haven beach lifeguards are being credited with saving the life of an 11-year-old boy who was drowning on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.
The boy was actively drowning at Oak B Beach around 1:05 p.m. when lifeguards Madison Hobartt and Issac Gorske swooped in to rescue him, according to Margaret Ruggiero, the West Haven Parks & Recreation Department's pool & water coordinator.
“The victim is safe thanks to these two amazing lifeguards on staff with West Haven Parks & Recreation,” Ruggiero said in an email.

Hobartt and Gorske are both West Haven residents.
“We are so very proud how they reacted and responded to this emergency,” Ruggiero said.
