Housing Pitched For Former Chick’s Drive-In Site In West Haven: Report
A developer has submitted plans to build 12 single-family homes on the former Chick's Drive-In property, the New Haven Register reported.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A developer is proposing to build 12 single-family homes at the iconic former Chick’s Drive-In property on Beach Street in West Haven, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports the property owner has submitted plans to the city that call for part of the site’s parking lot to be used for 12 detached single-family residences with two-car garages, a small community pavilion and bicycle rack.
The property was sold for $1 million in July 2021, New Haven Biz previously reported.

Chick’s Drive-In, opened in 1950 and was famous for its hot dogs, lobster rolls and fried seafood, closed in 2015 just months after the death of its founder, Joseph E. “Chick” Celentano
Celentano’s sons told the New Haven Register at the time that their father wanted the restaurant to close when he died.
