Longtime West Haven Lawmaker Resigns for State Job: Report

The veteran state representative has resigned to accept a position with the state.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Longtime West Haven state representative Stephen Dargan is resigning his seat on the legislature for a job with the state, according to CT News Junkie.

Christine Stuart of CTNewsJunkie.com reports that Dargan, a Democrat who has served in the state legislature for the past 26 years, won’t take the oath of office Wednesday on the first day of the 2017 session and instead has accepted a $92,500 position with the Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Dargan, who submitted his resignation on Tuesday afternoon, told Stuart that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy offered him the job late last week and said that he’s filling a vacancy and a job hasn’t been created for him.
