Man Charged With Attempted Murder: West Haven Police

The man was wanted by police after they say he shot a woman in a parking lot earlier this week.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Police have arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a shooting in West Haven earlier this week. Nathan J. Collins, 29, was found by West Haven police officers and taken into custody on a warrant, Sgt. Charles Young said Wednesday.

Police were searching for Collins after they said he shot a woman in a parking lot Monday during a domestic violence incident. Collins was reported to have fired the gun several times in the direction of the victim, striking her once and causing serious injury, according to Young.

Collins was charged with attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of pistol/revolver, carrying pistol without permit, criminal violation of protective order and illegal discharge of firearm.

Collins was held on a bond, according to Young.
