Multiple People Arrested After 'Street Takeover' In West Haven: Cops

West Haven police said they received multiple 911 calls around 2 a.m. Saturday reporting people standing and doing donuts in the road.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Six people were arrested and charged early Saturday morning after throwing fireworks at police officers while attempting a "street takeover" in West Haven, according to authorities.

West Haven police said they received multiple 911 calls around 2 a.m. Saturday reporting people standing in the road and doing donuts with their cars in the area of Boston Post Road and Campbell Avenue.

Police responded to the area, where they discovered multiple people attempting a "street takeover," or blocking the roadway. When police arrived, authorities said the individuals refused to comply with police orders and threw fireworks at the responding officers.

Police said four adults and two juveniles were arrested and charged. More arrests are expected, authorities said.

Police did not release the names of the individuals taken into custody.

"Any attempts at 'street takeovers' and/or blocking the roadways, denying our citizens access to public safety, will not be tolerated," West Haven police said in a statement. "Our agency will continue to investigate this and hold all parties involved accountable."
