Possible Arson Investigated In West Haven: Report

A woman and several cats were rescued from a burning home early Tuesday morning, according to officials.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A woman and several cats were rescued from a burning home on Center Street early Tuesday morning. Police say the fire may have been intentionally set and the home is being considered a crime scene, according to NBC Connecticut.

WTNH News 8 reports the fire broke out at about 3 a.m. on the unoccupied ground floor of a two-story, two-family home on Center Street. Two other residents were able to make it out of the home but firefighters had to rescue the woman, who was taken to the hospital, according to WTNH. Firefighters from the Center, City Of West Haven - Allingtown, and West Shore Districts responded to the fire on Center Street, “making it the second fire in less than 24 hours for A-Shift,” officials said in a post on Facebook. “Several cats were saved from both fires as well as an occupant was rescued on Center St.”
