Reopening Of West Haven Boardwalk Announced
Mayor Nancy Rossi said face coverings will be required when the boardwalk reopens. It has been closed since March 30 due to the coronavirus.

WEST HAVEN, CT — West Haven Mayor Nancy Rossi announced Thursday that the city’s beach boardwalk will reopen May 22. The 1.5-mile walkway has been closed since late March to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
In an update to residents, Rossi said that the boardwalk and all beach parking lots for recreational purposes will reopen May 22 for West Haven residents only. Rossi said that a West Haven resident beach sticker must be affixed to the left-hand corner of the windshield. If the resident driver doesn’t have a beach sticker, they must show both their license and registration to the constable.
“Although these areas are open, all residents must continue to follow the federal, state and local directives, including face coverings,” Rossi said. “It is essential to physically distance where possible. The boardwalk is not wide enough to ensure safe distancing so face coverings will be required.”
