Two People Hospitalized after Lightning Strike in West Haven
Police say the couple, who received a jolt after a tree they were walking past was struck by lightning, are in stable condition.

West Haven, CT — Two people are in stable condition after being struck by a nearby lightning strike while walking near Oak Grove Park on Thursday evening, according to police.
West Haven Police and West Haven Fire Department responded to the bike path near Oak Grove around 5:50 p.m. on the report of people injured from a lightning strike.
Police said a man approximately 50 years old and a woman around 45 years old were walking on Oak Grove adjacent to city bike path.

“They were getting out from the storm’s path and as they walked past a tree, that tree was struck by lightning causing the couple to also receive the energy transfer,” police said in a post on Facebook.
Both were transported to an area hospital and are in stable condition, according to police.
