Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting, Arrest Made: West Haven Police

A man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in West Haven, according to police.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting early Sunday morning in West Haven, according to police.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Hector Dominguez, police said in an update on Monday.

Police responded around 2:05 a.m. on Feb. 4 to a shooting in the 700 block of Campbell Avenue. Officers found Dominguez with multiple gunshot wounds.

Dominguez was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police said that after “discovering significant evidence,” West Haven detectives identified Eric Johnson as the suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest.

Johnson was taken into custody by West Haven police, along with members of the New Haven Police Department, without incident on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Johnson, 32, was charged with murder and unlawful discharge of firearm. He was held in lieu of a $2 million bond.

“We would like to thank the New Haven Police Department and the States Attorney’s Office of Milford Judicial District Superior Court for their assistance,” police wrote in a post on Facebook.
