West Haven Teen Earns Eagle Scout Rank
Kellen Driver received the prestigious rank with the completion of his Eagle Project, the revitalization of the Painter Park nature trail.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (Contributed article): West Haven Troop 899 member Kellen W. Driver was recently awarded the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Kellen, the son of proud parents David and Angela Driver, earned the highest distinction in Scouting by passing his Eagle Scout Board of Review of the Boy Scouts of America on Dec. 3.
Kellen’s Eagle Project was the revitalization of the Painter Park nature trail which consisted of clearing of the trail of downed trees and overgrowth blocking the path, installing drainage pipe in three eroded areas, creating a marked sign for the public, cleaning up of litter, among many other tasks along the way.
Kellen received the approval and full support of West Haven Parks and Recreation Commissioner Mark Paine to successfully complete his project.

Kellen, 15, began his Eagle Scout journey when he was 6 years old as a Tiger Cub. In 2017, after completing the Ordeal, he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. Having 26 merit badges, he has also earned his first Palm. Kellen will be become the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 899.
Kellen attends West Haven High School and had been volunteering with the West Haven Emergency Assistance Taskforce (WHEAT) until the coronavirus pandemic. Kellen aspires to have a career in the aviation industry.

Due to the pandemic, the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony will be held later as Kellen would like to celebrate his accomplishment with friends and family in person and free of masks.
