WEST HAVEN, CT — The community is rallying around a West Haven resident who was seriously injured in a recent crash in New Haven.
Corrine Weber created a GoFundMe campaign Monday to help with medical expenses for her daughter Juliana’s long road to recovery from a “horrendous” crash that killed her best friend and another person.
Police said Madysin Hilker, 19, of West Haven, and Dajsha Knight, 21, of New Haven, were killed in a three-vehicle crash that happened around 1:50 a.m. July 27 in the area of Middletown and Barnes avenues in New Haven.

Weber wrote that as a result of the crash, her daughter suffered “fractures to her femur, spine, and various other locations on her body.”
“She has also suffered the tragic loss of her best friend, Madysin Hilker,” Weber wrote in the post on GoFundMe. “The road to recovery will be lifelong for her. She has already endured multiple surgeries, which includes a ten-hour surgery to her spine, with rods and screws now holding her body in place. That said, I am humbly asking for the assistance of my loved ones and community to support Juliana's recovery. Anything will help and will be greatly appreciated.”
