Barlow PTSA Extends Membership Renewal

The following is a press release sent by Terri Jennings, Barlow PTSA's publicity representative.

Joel Barlow High School, , is making a concerted effort to boost PTSA membership. The PTSA membership committee reports that so far this year the membership numbers are down, and they’d like to think .   

That crunch time at the end of the summer when membership forms come in as parents focus on back-to-school tasks was disrupted as and running water for the better part of seven days. As a result, the PTSA reports that only 340 membership forms have been returned out of a student body of about 1,000. 

To make up for this lost time, the PTSA has extended the membership deadline from Sept. 6 to Oct. 5, the date of Open House at . Now that students are back in school, the lights are on and the roads are clear, the PTSA hopes that families will take a minute to fill out the membership form.

All members will be included in, and receive a copy of, the school directory known as The Buzz Book.

“The Buzz Book is an invaluable resource for parents,” said Jen Wastrom, President of the PTSA. “The Barlow community spreads across two towns, and I have two boys at the school. I’m constantly referring to the Buzz Book to stay connected.”

Membership forms are available on the Barlow website.

"We’re the sixth best high school in the state,” added Wastrom. “The folks inside Barlow have done their part to make this so. But there’s something parents can do, too. Do it to help, or do it in appreciation—but please do it. Please support the Joel Barlow PTSA.”
