Bomb Threat Prompts Security Response At Weston Middle School

WESTON, CT — Weston Middle School was placed under a Secure School Protocol Tuesday after school officials and police received an anonymous threat claiming explosive devices had been placed inside the building, according to authorities.

Police said the threat was received at approximately 11:39 a.m. Tuesday. Weston officers responded to the school and were assisted by officers and a canine unit from the Westport Police Department, as well as the Stamford Police Department's Bomb Squad.

Authorities conducted comprehensive interior and exterior searches of the school and found no threats or explosive devices, according to police.

The Secure School Protocol was lifted and the school returned to normal operations.

Police said the origin of the threat remains under investigation. Officials noted the incident is similar in nature to threats recently received by neighboring school districts and communities throughout Connecticut.

"There are no known credible threats to public safety," police said.
