Owner Of Redding Landscaping Company Charged Over Workers' Comp Insurance
State officials said the owner was charged with operating without required workers' compensation coverage.
REDDING, CT — The owner of a Redding landscaping company has been arrested and accused of operating the business without required workers' compensation insurance, state officials announced.
Matthew Lang, 44, of Redding, was arrested Aug. 5 by inspectors with the Workers' Compensation Fraud Control Unit in the Office of the Chief State's Attorney, according to an Aug. 21 news release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.
Lang, owner of Shoots to Roots Plant Care Corp., was charged with one count of noncompliance with insurance requirements.

Connecticut law requires business owners to carry workers' compensation insurance covering their liability or demonstrate sufficient financial responsibility to compensate injured employees and other beneficiaries, according to state officials.
Lang surrendered Aug. 5 at the Rocky Hill Police Department and was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond, officials said.

He is scheduled to appear Sept. 28 in Danbury Superior Court.
The case is being prosecuted by the Workers' Compensation Fraud Control Unit in the Office of the Chief State's Attorney.
