Cut the Schools Budget, Redding Ed Officials Told

The schools need about $5 million in capital improvements next year.

REDDING, CT - The town Board of Education was told by the Board of Finance this week to make further cuts to its proposed $21.3 million spending plan for next year.

The finance group's directive comes from the realization that the town will have to bond about $5 million for capital improvements to the schools, which will result in annual debt payments of a couple hundred thousand dollars, reports the News-Times.

Officials hope to find savings of at least $250,000.
