Easton Police Commissioner Facing Federal Narcotic Distribution Charges

Easton’s police commissioner was arrested Wednesday in connection with a federal steroid and prescription narcotic distribution investigation, according to a release from Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Raymond J. Martin, 48, of Easton was charged after a long- term investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security.

The investigation revealed that Martin, along with other individuals, were distributing prescription pills including oxycodone. Investigators conducted a wiretap and found Martin to be engaging in text messages with other members of the conspiracy discussing the distribution of anabolic steroids and oxycodone.

Police seized hundreds of vials of steroids, approximately 600 grams of raw testosterone powder, more than 1,000 oxycodone pills, approximately 350 grams of powder cocaine and four long guns.

Martin was charged with conspiracy to possess oxycodone with intent to distribute. If convicted, Martin could face a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years. Eleven other individuals were charged as a result of the investigation, including a Newtown police sergeant.
