Katherine Waugh selected to sing in All-National Honor Choir in Nashville

Katherine Waugh, a junior at Joel Barlow High School was named to the 2014 NAfME All-National Honor Choir sponsored by the National Association for Music Education. Katherine joined 340 of the most musically talented and skilled high school singers in the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 29, 2014.
These exceptional students, named the “best of the best” out of approximately 2.5 million students nationwide from local, district and state music festivals, rehearsed a repertoire of remarkably challenging music. They performed under the baton of prominent choral conductor Edith Copley, Regents’ Professor and Director of Choral Studies at Northern Arizona University.
Katherine is a classically-trained soprano, and sings in the Select Choir and a cappella groups at Joel Barlow as well as the Fairfield County Children’s Choir. Katherine will be a featured performer at Music For Youth’s Rising Stars Benefit Concert Sunday, November 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport.
